I was the victim of a hit and run while riding my bike home one night, and injured my shoulder. A friend who had recently worked with Stuart Leon told me I should reach out to them. I didn’t know what to expect, but I talked to Dillon on the phone for an hour and he explained to me that my car insurance policy has coverage for hit and run accidents, called “uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage,” which would allow me to get compensated for my accident. He explained the steps I needed to take to start a case. It felt like a no-brainer to sign on.

The gentlemen at Stuart Leon were great to work with, even despite some challenging circumstances with my case. I’d been injured in 2018 in downtown Philadelphia, and worked with Leon’s team to see what options were available to me. It had been a hit-and-run, and the driver held a NJ license – that was complication number one. Number two was that, in the interim between filing the claim against the driver’s insurance and hearing back from them, I’d moved to Utah. The legal team continued to work with me, handling things with a debt collector (since my medical bills from visiting the ER were still outstanding, with the assumption that the NJ insurance company would be paying), and working with the police to make sure we tracked down the proper information with the driver and his insurance. Last summer I was hit by a car recklessly turning into me at an intersection on an after-work ride-leaving me injured in a ditch in strawberry mansion with a totaled bike and a large laceration on my leg. I have known Stuart Leon the bike crash lawyer for years. I kindof watched Zach grow up in Stuart’s office. I print for them, I have for going on 20 years. I know and have seen the dedication they put into each of their cases as well as the community. I have watched them begin a case because of a cycling problem area. It had no client, it was a hazard that needed attention and they just got involved to rectify it before anyone got hurt.
These are the type of people that happen to be Cyclists first and Lawyers second that I always thought I wanted representing me if I ever needed. Time came that I needed… and they were there for me.
Like many Cyclists I have had close calls and near misses. Well it happened… I got hit by a car. A clueless driver paying no attention to the road, taking a last minute righthand turn veered into me. My bike frame was cracked, my knee and back were damaged. I thought I was ok. I did get the drivers information. About the only thing I did right. I did not go to the hospital to get it checked out till a month later. I wanted to give it time to heal… get better… it didn’t.

In Dec of 2018 I was involved in a hit and run where I was hit multiple times by an aggressive driver. I called a friend who refereed me to Stuart and was seen immediately. He gave me a general rundown of things, was honest about the outcome and refereed me to MRCP for PT because I had sustained injuries. The staff at MRCP were really wonderful and my experience there was surprisingly better than PT experiences I have had in the past at Penn. I had a car door flung into me at the worst possible moment as I was passing on my bicycle and it threw me into fast moving traffic on Baltimore Avenue. I ended up in the hospital with a broken hand and other injuries and my bike was totaled. The driver who doored me wasn’t even insured and the vehicle that hit me when I was flung into traffic didn’t stop. The financial hit right at the beginning of the pandemic was really crushing…it completely wiped me out.
Without Stuart Leon Bicycle Crash Law I really never would have fully recovered from that, but they went over and beyond. I was hit and run on a bicycle in SW Philadelphia. The driver stopped long enough for me open my eyes and get a license plate number before speeding off. I contacted stuart leon the next day because my body and bike were mangled. They went through the process of getting information on the driver and getting me into physical therapy. We found out disappointedly that the driver didn’t have insurance and no damages could be awarded, however they were able to use my own auto insurance to cover my medical bills.
